ARITHMETIC MEAN

The arithmetic mean is a method to derive the central tendency of a sample space. The term "arithmetic mean" is preferred in mathematics and statistics because it helps distinguish it from other averages such as the geometric and harmonic mean.

A mathematical representation of the typical value of a series of numbers, computed as the sum of all the numbers in the series divided by the count of all numbers in the series.

Geometric mean is the average of a set of products, the calculation of which is commonly used to determine the performance results of an investment or portfolio. Technically defined as "the 'n'th root product of 'n' numbers".

Mean and median is generally denoted by a mean symbol M.D.
